"IllustratorToSpine" script doesn't export json

The version of illustrator that I have is v 26.0.3.
The script exports the pngs correctly but it doesn't export the json file. I don't have any locked or hidden layers. I have selected the option to export json. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I can't find anything new about this problem online. The closest I can find is 3.5 years ago.
Bonus question: Does anybody else have a problem with scripts not showing in the list? I have to manually select them by clicking "Other script...". I know that I put them in the right place because in the same folder there are the default scripts that show in the list always.

Sorry for the trouble. I created a new test illustrator project and tried it, and confirmed that the .jsx file you attached can export JSON even in v26.0.3. Could you send us the ai file which has the project via email? : contact@esotericsoftware.com
Please briefly mention this forum thread URL in the email so that we know the context. Then we can have a look at what's going wrong.

Regarding the list of scripts, I have also tested this on my PC and confirmed that IllustratorToSpine can be displayed on the list correctly. I believe it is not the issue of the script side, so please ask about it on Adobe’s support community.

Thank you for the fast reply! I uninstalled everything adobe related and re-installed them. Now the script appears in the list but the json still doesn't get generated. Even in a new file with just 3 rectangles in 3 layers. I do have another error that keeps appearing every time I open illustrator. I don't know if it is related. This file in the error message keeps having problems even if I delete and reinstall the previous version of illustrator. Maybe this error is related in some way? I will also send send the email you said. Thank you a lot!
