I just upgraded to the latest version of Spine. But I don't like the way the timeline spans the entire (horizontal) interface. I liked it better when the Tree spanned the entire height of the UI. Is there some way to change this?

Absolutely, you can drag views around by dragging their tab.

Yeah, that was the first thing I did but it does not allow me to create a full height Tree tab. =[

It does, you just need to be creative with how you move the views. Move the dopesheet view into the bottom of the viewport area.
