So I've added a few bones+animations from a newer version file to an older version file and they still work. Everything seems to work fine, until I export.

When I export, the loader gets stuck at 56% and progresses from 0/1253 to 1200/1253 and then goes back to 1/1253 and stays there forever.

I don't know what seems to be the issue... but I do need to export this file!

Are you packing an atlas as part of data export? What are your texture packing settings? If you are using polygon packing, it can take a long time. You may have found a bug that makes it take too long, or you may be using an older version of Spine. What version of Spine are you using?

I am packing an atlas with a json, for version 3.8.99 instead of the latest version. No new techniques were used, so that's what's baffling me.
I'm doing everything the same as I always did.

I do have polygon packing active... can I try a different way?

4.1 very likely packs polygons better and faster than 3.8. You could use 4.1 to pack your atlas and continue using 3.8 to export your data, if you don't want to update your runtime to 4.1 yet.

If you want to keep with 3.8, you may need to change to packing rectangles.

I’m not sure if this matches your case, but I have seen a case which a missing attachment caused exporting gets stuck:
JSON export hangs on "Packing: skeleton 1/1661" (39%)

So making sure your skeleton does not have any missing attachment may solve the issue.
